Reviving Kaye Residence

It had been a very long time since I last updated the official Kaye Residence fotopages. So today I picked up the camera and snap snap. I was quite pissed off coz I made dinner and my sister said she got a class to attend tonight. Sigh, she could have told me earlier. So here I am typing with my keyboard and updating the fotopages while eating dinner alone. Here are some of the pictures I uploaded at http://kayeresidence.fotopages.com more pictures at the fotopages it self

A Birthday Feast

Whenever I feel a bit off I usually turn all my negative feelings towards cooking. As i had wrote earlier, today will mark one year since the day mummy went home.

I woke up pretty late, took a bath and went to the whole seller. Bought some groceries and started cooking. I decided that today we will celebrate my brother in law's 38th birthday :-).

Ok this may sounded crazy but I kinda made all these food in the picture belo
w myself. Yup I can cook! Yay! I made a feast for my family, we ate happily and thank god we finished everything. I’m not gonna list down what I cooked for this celebration coz I don’t want people to get the idea that I’m bragging but you all can guess it from the picture right? heheh feast your eyes!

The happy family= my two nephews, my bro in law and my sis

The feast, well 3/4 of it anyway

Home....

Today will mark a full one year of my beloved God mother Jeannie Cheah Koo Yook Foong's departure home. It is something very hard for me to bear as the image of the day which she departed home was playing again and again in my mind like a slide show that never ends. But i know what to do, yes this is not a day that I should be depressed about this is the day for me to feel and truly embrace her loving memories. It is hard... going to the house without that usual shout calling me "SAIFUL!!!" from the computer, yes it is lonely at the house without the loud singing and sounds from the karaoke, yes it is rather dark at the house without those beautiful flickering tea light candles. Everything is hard but REAL.

Slowly I opened my special drawer, withdrew a small British India Jasmine candle, placed it on my double rounded tray and lit. This specific candle was mummy's favorite which later became my favorite as well. A tea light candle was placed by the window in my candle holder.

the candle

Later as the night drew late and the candles slowly burning away; its lights flickering, dancing shadows and my room filled with the aromatic smell of Jasmine, I smiled. My heart suddenly feels so warm, a familiar sense and feelings emerged... we all know why. No mater where she is now she will always have a special place in my heart. Mummy I miss you, we all do…

Korean B.B.Q and KImchi

Yesterday Suraya and I went for a movie and lunch. At first we planed to go to Mid Valley but we went to Pavilion instead (like always). Quickly after we bought the Hancock tickets we rushed to the food court since I was craving for some Korean food and we are on low budget, we settled for the food court. I finally decided to order my self a Korean beef bbq meal with Kimchi as a side order. By the time i picked up my tray of food, Suraya had already found a place for us and happily forking her food in.

The meal= rice+condiments(potatoes and turnip)+miso soup+bbq beef+kimchi

The meal I had was RM 24++ and considering the portion of the bbq-ed beefs and the tenderness of it I can say that I am very satisfied with the amount of money paid. It’s worth it. The taste of the beef was soooooooooooooooooooooo good! However after eating most of it I started to get a bit giddy.... sigh.. I can’t eat too much meat and oily food (the beef was a bit oily). After lunch we went to watch Hancock and hang around at my Starbucks. More pictures here: http://broncogenszipper.fotopages.com

We must PIE

Here are some pictures of the Peach and Custard Pies I made for tea today. The pie was really easy to make. Some peaches, custard powder, milk, sugar, eggs, flour, a bit salt and butter. Voila. The best part is I didn't even refer to any recipe, just guts to try, mix and bam. Yum Yum!

How and where to get good furniture in KL

There are many chic furniture labels available in KL that are not too expensive and affordable. Instead of the not so high quality products from IKEA consumers are actually spoiled unknowingly with the wide range and various types of designer's quality furniture.

A lot of consumers do not realize that affordable furniture market is not only IKEA (well it took me sometime to figure that out hahah. When it comes to affordable furniture people usually turn their likings towards IKEA and forgot totally about the other furniture shops/labels out there.

Experiences from mass searching of furniture and interior decor items had thought me a lot about getting furniture. Here are some useful tips that i can share on selection, negotiating, payments and quality of furnitures.

1. There are many furniture shops/labels out there that are very affordable and of better quality than IKEA, such furniture shops can be found not only in small towns but also in competitive furniture market areas namely furniture malls, Mid Valley Mega Mall, Bangsar, Cheras, Desa Petaling and many more. Looks can sometimes be deceiving, some of the areas mentioned are very posh areas but fear not, the outlook of the shops may look pretty expensive but they have wide range of affordable furniture. Trust me on this :-)

2. When you are selecting furniture make sure that that piece can fit into your designated area as well as blend perfectly with your original decor. Make sure you have the precise measurements of the space you are filling the furniture with. It would also help to bring some snaps of that area in your mobile phone. This will help you determine and visualize the compatibility of he furniture you have selected. SO no more wasting time back and forth worries if it would fit or match.

3. Quality check is THE MOST important thing you have to do. Make sure that the furniture is not only child safe but also adult safe. Ask about how much weight it can endure, what type of material they use, how to take care of it, what fabric or paint they use, warranty and PLEASE check for their workmanship.

4. If you happened to like a piece of furniture design but you kinda sceptics about the color or material used don’t forget to ask them if they can be customize for you. Usually this will cost a little extra but satisfaction sometimes cost a little extra don’t you think?

5. The best time to shop for furniture is on a warehouse sale or on promotion. You can ask the shops about their upcoming sale and promotions, wait and purchase then. Other then that, furniture on display are usually sold for less. If it is in a very good condition you can ask the shop to sell it to you.

6. Always ask how much discounts they can give to you for a cash purchase. If you are buying a lot from their shop you can also ask for a few perks, such as free gifts (be sure that you get another furniture or decor items like lamps for free and don’t settle for those stupid umbrellas or bags)or simply free delivery. Also ask them if you can get discounts for purchase after purchase.

7. Lastly it is important to know that furniture bought usually has a delivery charge so do spend your budget with some consideration of the delivery charge. Oh ya don’t forget to ask for warranty as well :-)

This is a list of Furniture/decor labels/shops that I found good deals from.
1. KIAN Classics
2. GDO Designs
3. Living Quarters
4. MJ Living
5. Parkson
6. Bright Shine Lighting (Cheras)
7. Celline
8. Abitex
9. Lorenzo
10.Barang-barang (their sale is crazy)
11.Thamesa
12.Desa Petaling and Cheras Furniture malls
13.Laura Ashley (only when you are a frequent customer and on sale)
14.Jusco Living
15. Vivencia

There are simply too many shops for me to list down here but if you are interested in finding something specific do drop me a comment or email and i will try my best to help you.

Flower by Kenzo

My body was pumping adrenalin, paces getting faster. Destination reached. MY GOD the q was so long i nearly lost my temper, but its a Sunday, long Qs at the ATM is a normal thing. Why am i being so impatient? Sigh.. i was making a purchase but the amount of the bill was beyond the limit of my card that i had set earlier. ( Changed the limit form 5k to 2k a week ago so that i can control my spendings). Bugger! i shouldn't have changed my limit! Here i am being embarrassed as my card was rejected queuing up to change the limit again. How foolish.

As my mind wonders around my skull, i smelled something very familiar, very comforting... It was KENZO FLOWER! Mummy's favorite perfume and my mother's most recent fav (her ultimate fav is Dior Dune and Estee Lauder's Pleasure). They were running a campaign for the perfume just a few meters from where i am standing. The new Campaign featured ShuQI as the model and there were Poppy flowers everywhere. So RED so beautiful.

the perfume

My turn finally came. HOW STUPID! this machine do not have the function to change limits! Argh!!!!!!! I withdrew cash instead. sigh... rushed to shop and paid the amount, then i went back again to the Kenzo Campaign and took these pictures.

The Poppy Chandelier and the flower beds

ps: I miss my mum and mummy :-(

The Starbucks Experience

I am a huge fan of coffee, yup to the extend of an addict. Starbucks is one of my fav coffee shop aka kopitiam heheh. Since i am a fan of this coffee chain i decided to understand and learn about its success in becoming one of the world largest coffee chain. With the addiction to coffee at hand and my habit of reading i decided to buy "The Starbucks Experience" book.

The Book

The book started of with the Green handbook for Starbucks staffs, its code of conduct so called. The five principles of their operations was then reveled one by one. I gotta say that the book is very informational and the story is very interesting. How a simple coffee shop became such a huge coffee empire. As usual im not going to tell you all about the book. You gonna have to buy and read it your self. hahaha. Its just Rm87.70 for a hard cover and if you buy them in any Border bookstore you can get a 20% off with a purchase of any magazine of any price. Quite a bargin, or else you can try getting your hands on the paperback or from Pay for Less( if its your luck).

Funny pictures 3 and lazyness

Been very lazy to update my blog. I had many things going on. Today i skipped coffee! Yay! Ok i had never done this "my little diary" kinda post before. Like JJ said, its lame! But hey i wanna do it. At least once right. So here it goes:

1. morning woke up and shower

2. Had breakfast with Amir at Nz when i was suppose to go to a "kenduri"

3. Skipped Kenduri and went to gym for a quick workout+settling my bills

4. Went to Avenue K's food court to eat (seriously i donno that the food court there is so cheap and yumyum! you should go and try!)

5. went to Guess and bought 2 collared T-shirt for Aidil Fitri (lam
bat lagi but i dont like to shop during festive season coz im usually too busy attending all the preparations until i forgot to buy clothes for my self)

6. Had to go to Avenue K to get some stuffs. (the Armchair i posted previously and some other home decor for Kaye Residence.

7. Went back to Wangsa Maju house and had a long conversation with my dad on the phone. I swapped my second degree for a loan from him to start a business. Pretty happy about it. Going to take business, franchise, pastry making, French Asian cooking and photography classes on certificate level as a preparation. Dad finally admits that all this while i had been doing a pretty good job taking care of everything he assigned me to do. :-) Im happy too.

8. Took a nap, woke up and pack to go back to Kaye Residence. Arrived and found the place so messy and I drove my self crazy to rearrange everything at its right full places. I hate it when people move things that I had already arranged. Even my food cabinet was rearranged back to my own liking. Easier for me to get greedy heheheh

9. Made dinner for my self and the ordered cupcakes. Settled down in front of the tv and watched 10,000 BC in HD. Damn! It’s a BLAST! I didnt know my sound system was that good and the TV is that nice to watch!

10. Here I am, after a ciggy writing on my blog about my lame day! hahhaa.

Well that's all that I did today, of ya I also bought 2 more books to read, My legal Self and The Starbucks book. I am running out of space to store my books and Dad is gonna kill me if he finds out that I bought those books with my lunch money. I just feel that I asked to buy too many books already last month and feel a bit guilty to ask to buy summore. Here are sum funny pictures that my friends and readers had sent me. Enjoy ya!

wow what a school bus!

These are photos sent to me by my friend showing some "humans" eating babies and cutting them before processing them into food. What kind of human beings would do this to dead babies. So Barbaric.

Prime, Le Meridien

Last week while I had my super compulsive syndrome at hand (as usual), I made my way to one of the many Le Meridien restaurants, Prime. It is a place which serves imported steaks and wine with the motto; The American “Prime Grill, Prime Wine, Prime Time”. I arrived there without any reservations wearing simply my grey Sisley sweater, a blue striped Topman singlet, Banana Republic pants and my gold+white Nike. Heads turns, being me; used to turning heads, I ignored. People there were dressed to kill, perfect suits and opulent dresses, even toddlers were dressed in Kenzo or at least Ralph Laurents. Strangely I don't feel out of place, maybe because to me as long as you can pay the bills, you are alright.

the restaurant

I was seated at the waiting area while my table were being prepared and I made specific descriptions of where I should be seated, dark, semi private, and shield from the public view. I love my privacy. While waiting, I browsed the menu and wine list. Damn they are good!

I was seated at an oval shaped two seater table at a corner with semi enclosed oval wall. It’s perfect. Somehow I can’t help noticing that the waitresses were giggling and whispering to each other while looking at me, some of them were even trying to steal a look at me. Yup I guess they were flirting with me. hahahahah what can I say, a good looking young man with confidence (perasan) is having dinner alone in a posh restaurant; I’m sure they are labelling me as "opportunity".

I ordered Kimberly 150 days red grained feed Australian Rib Eye with truffle sauce and asparagus. The wine was tempting but I don’t drink so I skipped to stilled Panna instead. They served me spicy focacia bread and sun flower seeded bread with interesting 3 choices of butter; green tea, salted and sour. YUM! No appetizer for me since I love the breads very much.

the steak and bread

Suddenly I saw her, those red thick lips, that hair, that walk, that look. It’s Ainul, baby as I had always called her. She is as pretty as ever, as radiant and sexy even with that ugly corseted uniform she was wearing. Damn!

She made her way to me, delivering my dinner. OMG she didn't notice me until " Sir this is Kimberly...." and there we were smiling at each other like mad. She was so happy to see me her eyes was watery. We had a short conversation. I had my dinner and was leaving, then she came, whispered in my ear, rubbed my tummy like she used to and looked at me with that smile, “i will call you". At that point, the other waitresses were staring at us in disbelieve and envy hahahhaha. (Yup... I am in trouble!)

The rest of the night is history. :-)

p/s: Prime is not for the faint hearted men, if their smoking hot waitresses don't give you a heart attack the bill will surely do. hahahha.
